Who ever said MD was hot in August?

the air conditioning is turned off.  dad and mom and peter and i are hanging out in the kitchen watching amazing Olympic swimmers breeze through the lap lanes.  the windows are all open, and a cool breeze is blowing into the house…who ever said MD was hot in August?  For the past week, it has consistently been 70-80 degrees, sunny, cool, and the air free of humidity.  Hence, golf is the talk of the day.  EVERY day.  Family nights at the driving range.  Boys’ tee times at 8am.  Chipping in the backyard.  Improving one’s swing by placing a dish-rag under your armpit, and keeping it tucked there so that your back elbow stays in.  Really, it’s been GREAT practicing my game!  I love the thrill of a great drive, and even though THOSE have been few and far between all of my BAD drives, something keeps me comin’ back.  After all, we have to be ready to play with the Nams and Travis and Nora in November when we head out to Arizona for Thanksgiving!

Speaking of “heading out,” we’re off to the Outer Banks tomorrow morning.  It’s been a few years since we’ve driven the 6 hours to NC like we used to do back in the day.  I’m excited to get there: the sun, the water, learning to surf with Jon and Jenni’s long boards, tons of reading, and lots of walks/runs on the shore.  Apparently, the house has no Wi-Fi, so it will be nice that take that “purge” as well.  I will try and post pictures from the local coffee shop if I can.

It’s been a good summer.  Graduating college.  Becoming an Aunt to baby Kate.  Starting up a new job.  Lots of time with friends.  And, spending a week at the beach with my fam.  Before I know it, September will be upon us and my favorite season of the year will begin!  How weird will that be?  NOT packing up my back-pack and notebooks to head off to campus right after Labor Day?  I must admit, geek that I am, I will miss it.  But, some more recent ideas have included: starting up piano lessons again, taking tennis lessons with one of my girlfriends, going sky-diving in November, and saving up for a new car.  “Edith” the Volvo is doing fine, but she has seen spunkier days.  And, I’m afriad she might die at any moment.  After all, she is 17 years old! :)

  1. Sounds like the golf bug is running through the family like the flu. I’m jealous of the weather report. But that’s the trade off. Anyway Hilton Head is only 7 more hours south! Good golf and lots of sun. Have a great time w/ the fam!

  2. wow, reading this makes me want to join you guys at the beach…. a week at the Outer Banks sound great! I think it is time to make plans for another Jansen family reunion at the beach.

Congrats on your graduation. We are so proud of that and your new job. Hope it is going well.

So will the Edith replacement be a sporty new Volvo? I can see you in a red one Em. Road trip to Denver and Arizona! Love to have you.

    Thanks for writing,
    Love, Uncle Bruce
