Sunlight

This is a tree from a natural forest reserve in Uganda.  I was looking at this picture the other day and reminded of how amazing it was to stand next to it, look up, and feel like a puny ant underneath a large canopy of leaves and branches.  How amazing a God, who with a word spoken, created such things as trees, and set them into our world?  Surely, He who ensures that they receive sun and rain for growth and nourishment, also (and all the more) cares for His people!  There are no trees like this in my backyard, but one thing is for sure: the leaves here are starting to show a bit that Fall is coming.  And that, of course, makes me excited.

What though the sunlight wane?

ne’er wanes

The grace of Christ the Lord;

Amid the gathering gloom shines on

God’s everlasting Word.

Though leaf may wither, floweret fade,

Though tiny grass blad pale;

Our hearts can trust a surer truth-

God’s love shall never fail.
