Spring Shopping

Interested in finding some great spring shopping deals?  I’ve been researching a bit over the past two weeks, and found some great websites that I hope you will enjoy perusing.

:: Flip Flops ::

Visit this site for great prices on ‘Cali’ style flip-flops, such as Rainbows, O’Neill, Haivaianas and Sanuk.  They have $5 flat-rate shipping, and their clearance ‘rack’ right now is really awesome.  This small company is based in California.

:: Long Tees and Tanks ::

Visit this site for long tees and tanks that are modest and won’t become mid-riff shirts after one wash.  They also have some springy skirts that come in a variety of flower patterns, as well as sun dresses.  Similar to “Shade Clothing,” but I actually prefer their styles over Shade.

:: Light Scarves ::

Need a cute scarf for the spring to piece together your outfits for those slightly chilly evenings?  Pick a color, any color, for $15 dollars here.

:: Swim Suits :: 

Going cheap?  Target Tankini’s are typically a good buy if you want a tankini that will last you the summer.

Going simple?  I would suggest visiting Shade Clothing & Swim.  They have typically offered a very small selection of solids, but this year’s line has some additional stripes and patterns.  Someone told me the other day that their Shade suit didn’t last very well, but mine has been fine, just as long as I don’t put it in the dryer.

Going sporty?  I recommend either Title Nine Sports or Athleta for good swim ‘skirts’ or ‘boy shorts.’  Yes, they are a bit more expensive, but I’ve heard the fabric lasts for 2+ years of summer wear, and that they fit really well.

Going long-lasting?  My Mom has always loved Lands End bathing suits.  I could never buy them because they only sold size 6 and up, and I need a smaller size, because the size 6 fabric always stretches out in the water 🙂  BUT, this year, they are finally offering size 4!  Check out the different styles.

:: Thrift Store Shopping ::

Just a little comment here.  Someone asked me today about where I get my clothes, purses, shoes, etc.  I have to be completely honest and say that I buy a lot of my new, seasonal items from local thrift stores and secondhand boutiques.  I see this as a way to not only save my pennies, but truly be thrifty and recycle my clothing allowance in my budget.  What I mean by that is this: a lot of secondhand boutiques in MD will give you 40-50% back of whatever they sell on your behalf.  All you usually have to do is set up an account with their store, and then schedule an appointment.  At your appointment, they usually go through your items and pick and choose what they want to sell during that season.  When the season is over, they give you a check back for whatever you sold over the past 3-6 months.  For the past two years, I have had an account with Sunflower Consignment Boutique in Kensington, MD.  I also really enjoy going to Mustard Seed.  This store is in Bethesda and is super trendy.  Check it out sometime!
