Last night for our Dorm Night activity, my girls came up with an Acrostic Poem that defines their goals for our KUE dorm this year. The acrostic poem was the word, THRIVE.
First, we split off into 6 groups of 3 each. Then, each group took 25 minutes to design, decorate, and decide what they wanted their assigned Letter to represent.
Here is what they came up with:
T: Trust God, Truthful, Training our Minds to reflect Christ’s righteousness
H: Honoring God
R: Respect Others
I: Incredibly Loved
V: Value of Others
E: Expand, Excel, Encourage
I am so proud of them for participating in this exercise/activity. I encouraged them that these were their goals, not mine, and that I would be praying that God helps those goals come to fruition this year! While it may take four years of high-school to learn these lessons fully, I am excited to see what this first term will hold as they adjust to living in community with each other in the dorm setting.
Here is me with a few of the girls at the end of the evening. They are soo sweet, and I am loving getting to know each one.
In fact, one of the girls discovered she had head lice the other day, so during the four hours I spent cleaning and combing through her thick hair, we got to know each other pretty well 🙂 No worries. She is OK and is being checked again at the Student Health Center tomorrow, so I think our dorm will be safe. Nothing has spread thus far, so I’m pretty sure it has been contained to just the one.
Awesome stuff Emily! Sounds like you are doing a great job! Love the photos and the “Thrive” theme. Trust that you will do so as well … blessings!
