What a joy little Kate is to our family! Â Today I am having special-time with Nora and my new niece. Â Mom and Dad are still in Tucson on their little get-away, and after spending 2 days in Tucson myself with Timarie Lambros and Britt McKenna (two of my close girlfriends), I am now back in Phoenix before I go back home tomorrow. Â I can’t believe how this little girl has entered our lives and already brought us so much joy and fun! Â Nora is definitely my new hero–she is amazingly calm, patient, and humble in this new venture. Â Every day is an adventure, every hour is a sacrifice, and every minute is focused on someone other than herself. Â All these years, I have babysat and cared for children, but never have I gotten to witness “up close and personal” the tiring repitition of feeding, changing diapers, and putting a newborn to sleep….wow, I’m so glad that I just get to be “Tante Em”! So, Nora gladly gave me a honey-do list, which I was more than happy to handle: make her breakfast, run errands to Target, get her a cappachino at Starbucks, fold laundry, do dishes, create a baby slideshow for her blog and mine, help her clean off Kate’s belly-button, clean the pool, and in a couple hours, accompany her for Kate’s first appointment with the doctor. Â Travis is back at work today, too, so it’s nice to help serve Nora since she would otherwise have been home alone. Â Tomorrow, I come back to MD. Â I have to say, tears have already come to my eyes a couple times, as I think about how sad it is that I won’t be here to watch Kate day in and day out. Â The older I get, the more I realize how precious time, life, and family really are….and missing all those “firsts” will be such a bummer. Â That is why I am super-excited that my new job starts next Monday, which means that I can start saving for a new MAC that has the live video-chat capabilities!!! Â Woohoo!! Â That way, Nora and I can hang out “in person” even though we are across the country! Â Praise God for awesome technology.
