This past weekend, we had the fun of having a little Jansen reunion BBQ. My first cousin, Mieke, was en route with her husband, Jim, and their 4 kids, and my Aunt Nelda (Dad’s older sister), to Louisiana. They are moving there from Massachusetts…and had stopped in the DC area to visit with my other cousin, Luke (Nelda’s son and Mieke’s brother!)Â
So, we fired up the grill, invited my other relatives to join us, and spent a few, precious hours reminiscing about old times and memories. It was a blast…and definitely a blessing to see those with whom I spent many, happy, childhood days. Funny how time flies…and we each remembered (and had forgotten) about various things related to our pasts. But, one thing is definitely true: among Jansens, memories related to food ALWAYS stay pretty clear. Oddly enough, we found out that we all love Breyer’s ice-cream, and only eat Breyer’s, because that is what our Oma served us in her little, glass dishes. Strange how things like that happen.Â
For any Jansen reading this, it was GREAT seeing you if you were able to come…and if you weren’t, we missed you! Hopefully, we will see each other again soon. I’m off to Phoenix today, and getting ready to become an Aunt…..still no baby yet, but Nora and Travis are waiting patiently, and I suppose this little munch-kin will be here before we know it! I’ll be sure to post pictures soon!
Thanks for posting this! So cool that you could all get together…I feel so much closer to everyone because of our blogs. Funny about Breyer’s ice cream…Wes will ONLY eat Breyers as well. Good luck to Nora, we’ll anxiously await an update! Cara
