Ok, I need to take a vote. The girls on my dorm hall will not be allowed to call me just plain “Emily,” because RVA wants to establish respectfulness and a sense of my authority and care over them.
What do you think I should be called? Here are the options. Leave a comment to cast your vote!
1. Miss Jansen
2. Miss Emily
3. Miss “MJ” (in other words, “Em J”)
4. “Aunt MJ”
5. Auntie Em (too “Wizard of Oz” for me, but that’s what Kate calls me!)
Any other food for thought?
Of your initial five, I’d go for “C” (Miss “MJ”)
But, that almost sounds too stuffy, what about Miss Em?
I think “Miss E”
i’d vote for #2 or Nick’s suggestion
I think Miss Em.
I think it needs to be Miss Emily. It sounds southern…
how bout “Missy Em”?
…or #2
MJ, when said out loud, just reminds me of Michael Jackson…kinda creepy, no? I like Ms Emily or Miss Emily b/c it elicits a feeling of respect b/c of the “Ms” or “Miss” part, but at the same time it’s not too formal and will elicit feelings of friendship between you and the girls you’re looking after. Auntie Em should be reserved more for your siblings’ and best friends’ children, IMO. Hope this helps!
Which one do you like? :o)
