Happy February, everyone!
It has been raining cats and dogs… and, err, elephants, horses, and multiple other animals for close to 20 hours now. POURING rain, too. like the kind of rain that makes you want to curl up in your bed with a hot cup of tea and a great book in hand. I haven’t quite gotten to a fabulous book yet today, because my last semester of school has started, and hence, I have already had homework…however, today, I have still enjoyed the following:
7:30am. wake-up. hot coffee and time reading the Bible.
8:30am. hot oatmeal with raisins, milk, and brown sugar.
9:30am. arrival at Fitness First, only to discover that there had been a 2 hour school delay, and therefore, no Spinning class. O well, I thought, in a sarcastic tone of mind. i’ll just have to go home and relax :) trudged home in my ’91 Volvo station wagon while water dripped through the crack above the windshield onto my head in large, generous droplets…
9:45 am. dusted my room, Windexed some mirrors, set up my “Dutch Girl Favs” RSS feed homepage (these things are SO cool, you have to start one…I used Netvibes.com)
10:15-12. Political Communication reading due on Monday.  check.
12pm. Lunch! Hot lentil soup with parsley and thick, Greek yogurt slapped into the top of my bowl. yummm…
12:30 to 1:30. gchatting with friends, and more homework (done in bed with my thick, Pottery Barn white fleece blanket). check.
1:30. Made homemade Pistachio Lemon-Orange Biscotti…and it is baking in the oven as I write this.
2:30. Got my Biscotti out of the oven.
rest of the afternoon. NO idea. perhaps i’ll finish my book “Til We Have Faces” by C.S. Lewis, or do some knitting and movie-watching.
6pm. Elise and I are off to the Sleeping Beauty Ballet at the Kennedy Center! My dear friend bought me a ticket for my belated Birthday gift. we are looking forward to it very much, seeing as we both did Ballet 101 together at MC 2 years ago.
last thought of this blog post for a little humor in the academic world:
classes i am taking this semester >> Communication Leadership, Political Communication, Integrated Marketing Communications, Forensics, and Communication Management.  The other day, I began contemplating how in the world they will be carried into my career later this year. You gotta wonder why the University of Maryland system has us take these theoretical courses (well, except for Marketing…that one is really hands’ on…) It’s really a mystery sometimes. Oh well. Perhaps I’ll make a good Investigative Forensics Firm Public Relations rep? :) I can take my handy-dandy Photojournalism skills from last semester and take digital pictures of cadavers for media relations purposes…whadda think?!
No pictures for a while…..my Nikon is in the shop.
