this past weekend, we surprised Nora and Travis in colonial Williamsburg. there is nothing better than spending a crisp, 75 degree Fall day with my sister…
after a short walk around town at dusk with the Shank family, and multiple attempts at family portraits, we all gathered at Christiana Campbell’s Tavern for dinner.
well, we really went there for the sweet potato biscuits that they offer you BEFORE dinner, but that’s beside the point. =)
Dad, Peter and Brett had to leave late on Sunday night, but Mom and I stayed at the Marriott and spent the next morning with Nora. We found a coffee shop serving Italian Illi Espresso (of course) and meandered through the streets for a while.
Although I did not manage to get a picture of the food, I have to mention that Mom and I had quite the delicious gourmet lunch on the ride home: crispy pumpernickel sandwich with turkey, watercress, roasted tomatoes and a dijon dressing; sweet potato and beet chips; ginger ale; a juicy, crisp green apple; and 65% Spanish dark chocolate with orange bits for a little nibble of dessert.
Our Sunday morning through Monday afternoon trip was definitely worth it. For those of you who know me well, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that I even skipped classes on Monday morning AND neglected to study for a midterm that I just finished taking a little while ago!
