Welcome to my blog. My desire is that this site, and my stories, will point you towards the chief end of my life: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. In this way, the ordinary and mundane details of everyday life are transformed into what is eternally significant and treasured. For Jesus Christ is my greatest treasure in this life and in the next, and I am convinced that He is in all things. See my profile to understand “t.u.l.i.p.” And don’t forget to check out the other links!Â
Sunday evenings. Good times for reflection.
For our Uganda E-team meeting on Saturday, Jim Winn (the Singles pastor who will be leading our trip alongside Isaac Hydoski) reminded us of Christian missionary William Carey’s words, Â
“Attempt great things for God- expect great things from God!â€
William Carey
These words stir my heart as I consider what a privilege it will be to go across the world as a representative of God’s kingdom. To serve, lay down my time and physical comforts, labor together with fellow believers, pray in anticipation for the trip and during the trip, and watch God answer our prayers…in these things I expect great things from God. And I am confident that He will provide me and every one of my team-members with the strength to carry out these great things for Him, which will display His glory and awesome love for every tribe, tongue and nation–in this case, the people of Uganda, Africa.Â
Though I do not yet know what all these “great things” will be, we did receive more details about how we are going to be serving the orphans and church while in Uganda.
–facilitating small group discussions during the 4 day Christian conference that Moses Nkwasibwe (you’ll be hearing a lot about him in the coming months!)
–prison and community outreach
–radio station broadcast
–caring for the orphans
–interacting with local villagers
These activities will be quite an adventure, especially with communication occuring through verbal interpretation of English into the Runyakole Rukiga language!
Our team spent much of our meeting going over basic administrative details, brainstorming about possible fundraisers, and praying for each other in anticipation of the next 5 months. Wow. 5 months. Time is going to FLY.More details to come soon. In the meantime, check out the link to my cousins’ blog in Kenya (under Travel). They have already posted some gorgeous shots of exotic flowers and pictures of Lily and Silas Koning (my second-cousins) engaging with the locals.

Emily, thanks for sending me the letter about your upcoming trip to Uganda. I trust that God will guide your team’s planning to minister with the saints in Africa. You all have my prayers.
Awesome stuff! My wife and I live in Uganda helping orphans. We work for a Christian Orphan Program called Feed His Lambs here in Uganda. I’m happy to see what your doing! Keep up the good work!
